Protection that works

How to use condoms so they work

Condoms work. When they fail, it is almost always how they were used, not the condom. A few habits fix nearly all of it.

Why condoms fail

Put on late, taken off early, no lube, oil on latex, expired, or the wrong size. That list covers almost every failure. The condom itself is rarely the problem.

Putting one on right

Check the date. Open the wrapper with your fingers, not your teeth. Pinch the tip so there is room at the end, then roll it on the hard dick before any contact, not just before coming. One condom at a time, never two. Afterward, hold the rim while pulling out so nothing spills.

Lube is not optional

Friction is what breaks condoms. Use plenty of water-based or silicone lube with latex, and never anything oil-based, because oil weakens latex. Ass sex needs more lube than you think.

Size and fit

Too tight breaks, too loose slips. Condoms come in real sizes. If they keep failing or killing the mood, try a different size or brand before giving up on them.

If it breaks or slips

Stop and pull out. If HIV was possible, PEP can still prevent it, but you must start within 72 hours, so go the same day if you can. For everything else, get tested after the window a clinic suggests.

Other barriers

Internal condoms go inside the pussy or ass and put you in charge of the barrier. Dental dams cover licking. Both are worth knowing when regular condoms are not the right fit.
