Talking about it
How to tell a partner
Telling partners you tested positive is a kindness, not a confession. It gets people treated and it stops the spread.

Why it matters
A partner who knows can get tested and treated early. Most STIs are easy to cure, and all of them are easier to handle caught early. Telling people is how the chain stops.
What you can say
Keep it short and plain. “I tested positive for chlamydia. You should get tested too.” Or: “Got some health news. You should grab an STI test, it is quick and free.” You do not owe anyone a story, just the heads-up.
When and how
Soon beats perfect. In person, a call, or a text all work. Pick the one you will actually do, and if it feels safer to keep your distance, keep your distance.
If someone tells you
Say thanks. They did you a favor. Get tested, get treated if you need it, and skip the blame. An STI can come from years back, and it does not say who gave it to whom.
You can stay out of it
Many health departments and clinics can tell your partners for you without ever naming you. Ask the clinic that treated you about partner services.
